Dreary days are slipping by
A mental noise that keeps hammering
This biting anger – the endless pain
An ominous fear that still goes on
And the lights turn off again
The sun sets and darkness grows
When drabness weaves its way
And reveals the true face of decline
The stench of the sewers
Circulates around the hallways
An iron taste of corrosion that
Surrounds the flickering lights
Light dying stars stringed on a wire
Crackling – discharging – expiring
Amidst a downward spiral
Of a feigned and false tranquility
…And the faint… it grows
And grows and grows…
…As the world… it goes
And goes and goes…
A straying dog that howls in rage
Left alone and on the run
Broken-down with a shattered spine
Srawing circles on the edge
Like a rat sliding down the drain
An abysmal fall into uncertainty
Adead man walking
A prowler in the night
Hunting his own shadow
Beneath the traffic lights
A dying star
Crackling – discharging – expiring
