Wedge Formation

"Wedge Formation" Lyrics by Sacramentary Abolishment

I suppose indoctrination started in my youth

However, I did not follow the obvious and simple path

My peers excelled in profitable exploits

While I remained behind in obscurity

The timing could not have been better, and I joined right away

My use in this World was to be instrumental in the act of war

Infinite heads to count in the desert heat waiting for inspection to end

A strategy, shunned, but imagined the enemy was adapted and executed by us

In a short while we’d managed to capture and conquer the continent wholly

“A numerically inferior but technically superior” force that had yet to see defeat

Machines doing battle was Guderian’s dream and as we fought, so did he

Flesh and bone no match for this new steel age

Explosions bring fire to the night and I could see, ahead of me

The bodies of an entire Army Group lashed to nothing in an hour

When a man dies, to him nothing will come

When a thousand dies, a thousand women weep

When a million die, fear of death will rise

When this world is ours, a billion will have met a fiery hellish demise

Vorwarts!

With the speed of the wind, and the force of a vice, we’re wedging a hole in their lines

By crushing them in armored engagements, forcing their retreat,

this formation of machines will bestow terror

No Allied force has yet to see the Sun after a battle that lasted the night

Our flag will be that of the Earth if our victory is as certain as it seems

Exhaustion and quarreling within our ranks have allowed the enemy to gain ground

Each day they push us back further and further

Humiliation and defeat are on our bloody hands

A different type of warfare has surfaced

Aircraft will now play a major role

The three Eastern cities are holding

And our push in that direction has halted completely

The once gloried Wedge Formation

Has fallen back into the obscure idea it came from

They’re now less than fifty kilometers away and their numbers are staggering

But with the glory of our past behind us, our morale takes an odd lift

For we know we’ve lost the war, we still fought to death

And for every man who died, ten Allied lay in his wake.
